"We will find joy if we can keep expanding our consciousness into infinity." -Swami Kriyananda
Bible & Gita Verses
This is a rare compilation of Swami Kriyananda reading verses from the Bible and Bhagavad Gita with extensive commentary on the passages. He explains how the scripture readings have practical applications in our daily lives and reveals the deeper meaning of the passages. The recordings are from Sunday services.
Here are examples of excerpts and commentaries on this recording:
1. Bible Matthew 6:28 Jesus instructs the disciples, “Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink…” “Seek ye first the kingdom of God…” Kriyananda discusses God’s infinite care for each one of us. He also explains the difference between loving others with personal love and finding the love of God within yourself, and giving that divine love freely to all.
2. Bible Beatitude “Blessed are the poor in spirit.” Kriyananda gives fascinating interpretations in two different commentaries on the same passage given on two separate occasions. In this passage Jesus refers to being “poor” not so much in the sense of not having anything, but having the higher state of consciousness of non attachment. In the second commentary on this same Beatitude, he elaborates on the process of going though your heart to remove desires and attachments and to progress toward the state of consciousness of the ‘changeless Self.’
3. Parable of the sower “Behold there went out a sower to sow.” Kriyananda also gives an extensive commentary on a parallel Gita verse about the three gunas.
